The Putnam County Community Improvement Corporation, Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce, Leipsic Chamber of Commerce, Kalida Chamber of Commerce, Pandora Chamber of Commerce, Ottoville Chamber of Commerce, and Columbus Grove Chamber of Commerce have jointly launched a small business entrepreneurship program: Open Local.
Open Local will prepare existing small business owners to take their businesses to the next level. The program will include a series of business courses designed and instructed by Carla Treadway, Director of the BRITE Entrepreneurship & Innovation Center at the University of Findlay. Treadway is also a small business owner, has a MA in Organizational Leadership, and is currently a Doctoral student in Business Administration.
Business owners in the Open Local program will receive a 10-week once-a-week course program or a 5-week session twice-a-week program of the curriculum in entrepreneurship paired with professional development from business leaders/owners and coaching and mentoring to help them ramp up their business plan. Participants in this program must have a business already operational (web or home-based) or be ready to launch a business within the next 6-12 months. March 2023 is our target start month for the Open Local program. Be sure to sign up soon as seating is limited. The cost for this program is $200.00 payable at the first class.
We believe in the power of locally owned businesses, and our organizations stand ready to help entrepreneurs flourish and succeed in Putnam County. More information to come on application dates. We anticipate a late summer/early fall start time.
